Vijay At It Again – King of Remakes

Vijay completed the shooting of “Kaavalan” and the film is waiting for post-production work completion. It is always a habit of Vijay to sign movies without breaks. He usually signs one or two films even before completing the film he is acting. Similarly, he signed “Velayudham” while working for “Kaavalan”. Now, since Kaavalan is over, Vijay has decided what to do after “Velayudham”.

We hear that Vijay shows interest to buy the rights of Telugu hit ‘Brindhavanam’. So the remake of “Brindhavanam” may be the next film of Vijay after “Velayudham”. Brindhavanam had junior NTR, Samantha, Kajal Agarwal, Prakash Raj and others.

Telugu films have never let Vijay down and his plans with remakes have worked out most of the times. But this time, all the films he is acting are remakes. Kaavalan is a remake of Malayalam film “Bodyguard” and Velayudham is a remake of Telugu hit “Azad”. The actor’s “3 idiots” remake with Shankar is nowhere near for confirmation. We have to wait and see whether remakes help Vijay this time.

Sun Pictures Acquires Kavalan Vijay Movie?

It was reported in some sections of the press some weeks ago that producer-director Shakthi Chidambaram had acquired the distribution and release rights of the Vijay-Asin starrer ‘Kaavalan’ at a whopping Rs.40 crores.

Not many were aware that Shakti had done so and the news, which appeared in a leading daily, has now stirred a Pandora’s Box! Shakti had earlier taken a loan of Rs.50 lakhs from a nationalized bank to make his ‘Guru Sishyan’. When the Bank came across the news item, they called Shakti over and gave him a verbal ‘dressing down’ as to why wasn’t he repaying the loan when he could acquire a film’s rights at an amount which is more than thirty times the loan amount.

In order to avoid the consistent pressured being applied on him by the Bank to repay the loan he had taken in making ‘Guru Sishyan’. Making full use of his plight, Sun Pictures has moved in for the kill and is said to be demanding Shakti that he sell off the distribution and release rights of ‘Kaavalan’ to them. Still to forget the ‘bitter’ experience when Sun Pictures released his ‘Vettaikaran’, Vijay is reportedly against selling the rights to Sun Pictures. It is, however, believed that Sun Pictures might have the final laugh in the matter!

Comments about Vijay on Sunday’s (29 August) episode of Neeya Naana, a discussion forum, aired on Vijay TV is the reason for this, sources inform. Angry Vijay supporters have been expressing their ire through blogs and mails to Vijay TV office in Chennai.

Since Neeya Naana is a program where participants are free to express their views, the channel has not claimed any responsibility for this episode. Being a cool-headed person himself, we are sure actor Vijay will intervene and settle this issue in a peaceful manner.
