Ileana gets a whopping 1.5 crores for her role in 3 idiots remake

Ileana D' Cruz is gearing up for her next film 3 Rascals, a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots. The actress is all set to play the female lead in this film directed by Shankar. Illeana has now become the highest paid actress in South India. No other South Indian actress has been paid Rs 1.5 Crores for a Telugu or Tamil film.

Although Aishwarya Rai took Rs 6 crores for Robot, she is not considered as a South Indian actress but a Bollywood heroine. So Illeana`s rate for the remake of 3 Idiots is the highest paid to a South Indian actress.

Director Shankar who is impressed with Illeana wanted her to be the heroine for both the versions of 3 Idiots, in Telugu and Tamil. So she demanded Rs 1.5 crores for both the versions together. And the producers obliged.

Ileana, who is currently filming Junior NTR's Shakti, recently had a lengthy discussion with the director about her role. She plays the role of a medical student, which was played by Kareena Kapoor in the original. It seems Shankar is making some minor changes to her character in the film to suit the taste of the regional audience.

Ileana will pair Mahesh Babu in Telugu and Vijay in Tamil. Shankar has finalized Jeeva for the third lead, which was played by Sharman Joshi in 3 Idiots. But he is yet to finalize the actor for second lead. Aarya, Silambarasan's name are doing rounds for second fiddle.

The movie will hit the floors on December 6.
