Endhiran Album : Hit or Miss Hit ?

Endhiran Album : Hit or Miss Hit ?

After two weeks of Endhiran’s audio release, enthusiasts want to know how much Endhiran songs fared in Public’s mind. The reviews from the websites for the album have been fair and good. Rediff.com praised the album as “a perfect superstar album”. Behindwoods.com’s two reviews gave a fair 3 and half out of five. Indiaglitz noted the album won’t fail to please your senses. So these are off course critics’ reviews.  What is the public reaction to the Endhiran songs? How much has Endhiran songs created buzz around?

Of course when magnum opus creators join hands, the expectations are more than a crore elephants huge. There are many types of audience world wide (of course I am talking only about tamil cinema), and to fulfill all of them, a mediocre attempt is not enough. The songs of Endhiran has come in variety. An unconventional Rajini Opener, a conventional (but enjoyable) melody, an Rahman’s attempt to mix western, fusion and rap and  a tribal one. And Rajini’s fans have not always been the what you call “A center”. He has definitely found balance between all types of classes and masses. His films are liked by most of the tamilians.

And coming to this album, if you ask me to pick the best, I would pick Irumbile, Kilimanjaro and Kadhal anukkal numbers. The noted Behindwoods music reviewer Malathi Sundaram picked Kilimanjarao, Arima Arima and Kadhal Anukkal tracks. Interestingly another review in Behindwoods  reviewed by karthick picked Irumbile as his favourite one. When my friend picked up “Boom Boom Robo” track, I was not convinced. Many selected “Kilimanjaro” as their favourite track. Interesting, an Itunes user commented that he is very happy with the album but slightly disappointed with the Kilimanjaro track. The lovers picked “Kadhal Anukkal” track and you are not surprised with it. The next generation youth picked Irumbile and Boom Boom Robo as their favourites. Another friend of mine noted “Arima Arima” as the best for its lyrics and non stopping drum beats. And “Puthiya Manitha” track is slowly making towards the number one of the album without anyone noticing.

So what is the best? I do not know. Simple to say as the composer A.R Rahman told an interview. There were more than 2000 responses immediately when the audio released, and there were unique responses about their favourite songs. The songs satisfy a varied audiences but yet, at present, the complete album is liked only music buffs.

When my colleague deleted the entire Endhiran album of 83 MB from his mobile to free space for some of Illayaraja duets, I felt anguish. “Mokka songs machi” was his comment. I agree he is not prone to best of the musics. When Sun pictures starts its vigorous campaign of Endhiran, the expectations are expected to increase to 500% from now.

And the songs for now, after 2 weeks, it is a hit among the rajini fans and true music lovers. The others type of audience who talk to their girl friends via mobile in theaters if the film is slightly complicated (like inception) to understand or deserves full attention (like Ayirathil Oruvan) has not appreciated the album. Some people tells that a song is good only after hearing 4 or five times. It means they haven’t tried to hear it for the first 4 times.

And Sun Pictures really require these kinds of people to make Endhiran a huge hit and recover their huge sum of 150 crores money. As of now, my mobile plays Endhiran Album in a loop and my favourite is off course, “Kilimanjaro” for Chinmayee’s sexy voice.
